Portfolio highlights

I've worked on copywriting and verbal identity projects for brands in the Scottish Highlands, New York, Canada, Dubai, Kenya and more. Keep scrolling to see for yourself.

Russwood

📍 Newtonmore | Profile magazine

I wrote all the copy for this beautiful coffee table magazine for a timber specialist, working closely with the designer on headlines and layouts.

Seasgair Lodges

📍 Scottish Highlands | Verbal identity + website copy

Distilling the voice and verbal brand identity for Seasgair Lodges, a luxury holiday lodge company based in the Cairngorms National Park, began with a bespoke workshop.

African Management Institute

📍 Kenya, Africa | Insights paper

For this fascinating project, Sophie wrote a 4,500-word insights paper on how targeted business development support can uplift female entrepreneurs in Africa. Sophie and I always proofread each other's work, which I believe makes for a stronger final result.

Mission One

📍 Canada / UK | Verbal identity + website copy

Through an online workshop, I helped the ambitious Mission One develop their mission, vision, values and tone of voice. This led to the writing of their website copy, too.

Mowi

📍 Norway| Employer brand

I met with Mowi's Chief HR Officer, Anne Lorgen Riise, to help her tackle an ongoing challenge: how to improve consistency in internal communications for this global brand. I ran interviews with Mowi employees from across the business, blending the results with the company's existing vision and values to create a guide that aligned with the reality of working at Mowi.

The result is a practical guide that is used globally by hundreds of employees. I worked closely with the designer for the project to create a reference document that is on-brand, enjoyable to use and accessible to all.

It covers topics such as:

  • Voice versus tone

  • Mowi grammar guidelines

  • Considering different internal audiences

  • We do say, we don’t say

  • Frequently used phrases and messaging

  • Dealing with translation

  • What to think about when using photography.

Highland Fuels

📍 Inverness| Verbal identity

I ran a year-long brand refresh project for Highland Fuels at a pivotal point in their business's journey.

Quantitative and qualitative research with their internal and external audiences influenced the direction for the visual brand update, as well as the creation of a verbal identity.

I wrote the resulting brand guidelines, working with the Highland Fuels management team in parallel with a team of illustrators and designers to create the final document. I also wrote the copy for a new website, and headlines for their tankers to promote the business on the road.

Frontier Science Scotland (FSS)

📍 Scottish Highlands | Website, blogs, case studies and white papers

FSS is a not-for-profit contract research organisation that works on life-changing clinical trials. Since writing copy for their new website, I've worked for FSS on a monthly basis, creating case studies and blogs with SEO in mind.

Social Investment Scotland

📍 Edinburgh | Website copy

Social Investment Scotland (SIS) helps social enterprises, charities and community groups to grow by offering loan funding and business support.

I was contracted by SIS to write copy for their new website, carrying out keyword research to ensure the titles and body copy would help boost their online visibility.
